Cranberry SC20
|
|
|
|
|
| The Cranberry SC20 Smart Client is a powerful,
energy-efficient and totally manageable device that offers business a viable
alternative to the conventional desktop PC. |
| |
| The Smart Client has been designed to offer a
fusion of thin and fat client functionality. Thin Clients are used because they
are, easy to configure, they are low maintenance and are seen as secure devices.
However they are very limited in functionality, such as the installation of
local applications and the peripheral devices that can be attached and that they
can support. For example when there are requirements for the use of USB memory
sticks, digital cameras, CD/DVD writers and mobile phone synchronisation thin
clients typically cannot be used. This means that in most cases they do not
fulfil all of the needs of the end user. |
| |
| On the other hand PC’s offer flexibility in terms
of applications that can be installed and peripherals that can be attached
locally to the computer, but controlling who is permitted to perform these
operations is difficult, because of this PCs are seen as open and can be much
less secure. |
| |
| With the Cranberry SC20 every aspect of control
and administration of the device, peripheral support and application management
can be controlled through a simple easy to use management interface making the
SC20 both secure and Smart. |
| |
| Cranberry Smart Clients can perform all the normal
open business functions of a desktop PC – such as internet browsing, whilst at
the same time delivering lock down security via the Enhanced Write Filter (EWF),
resulting in protection from viruses and spyware. Whenever the Smart Client is
shut down, no actual data remains, and when it is turned on the Cranberry
Freshboot™ technology means it will always be restored clean and uncorrupted. |

Case Study: Bath & North East Somerset
|
|
When the revenues and benefits department wanted
to expand their data management team, overcrowding in their city centre offices
meant that they needed to look at alternative options.
By introducing a homeworking scheme, Bath & North East Somerset Council were not
only able to expand their team, but also saw a 20% increase in their
productivity. This was worth more than £3,500 a year per employee.
Cranberry smart clients are key to the project, giving the homeworkers access to
sensitive data while they are protecting it from being copied, and ensuring that
the Council retains 100% data protection. |

Case Study: The Independent Consultancy
|
|
Following a major server failure, Brian Hill
at the Independent Consultancy called Cranberry for help.
“I wanted someone to take away the hassle of managing our IT system. Now we know
the systems are safe and legal, and we don’t need any in-house IT expertise
because it is all done by Cranberry.”
“The speed of their response to support calls is extremely good and they have
often gone over and above their remit to help us.”
“A key benefit to the system is that we know our IT costs per person over the
next 3 years, so spending is more predictable and cash is easier to manage.” |

Case Study: The Route Group PLC
|
|
When Mark Worrall joined The Route Group PLC
as Managing Director, his plans for the business were hampered by their computer
system.
“Like many small and growing companies, business development was encumbered by
the cost of managing and maintaining an IT infrastructure we’d already outgrown”
says Mark
Mark was impressed with the support he received. “I knew what I wanted, it just
had to work, like a light switch or any other utility, it just needed to be
always on, always available, no question, no quibble and that’s what I’ve got
with Cranberry”. |
